Communicating with Motion Controller

I have an ESP300 Motion Controller. I can communicate with it via HyperTerminal. However, when I try to send commands using NI's Measurement and Automation module, I get nothing. I also get the attached error when trying to send commands with the VISA Write command in LabView. Anyone more knowledgable than me on the this?
