They aresimply there for the fun of it.The VI was run on several P3 and P4 PCs. The timesvaried quite a bit, but the rankings didn't change thatmuch. The times above are from a 2GHz P4.Overall, the submissions have been quite interesting,and I think that we will soon start publishing thetechniques that distinguish some of the bettersubmissions from the rest of the pack.I am not ready to post a list of submissions thatproduced incorrect results, but I will review the intentof the challenge rules.The official encoder will produce some charactersin the input string with invalid parity. It will check tosee that the decoded string has the original charactersfor those with no parity problem, and it will check thatthe data with incorrect parity was decoded as a '?'.So, if you are pretty sure that your VI should be inthe running, but it isn't on the list subset shown above,that may mean that it failed to correctly handle paritychecking. When this is uploaded to the web site, thiswill somehow be more clear.If you haven't already spent enough time coming upwith the best solution, the doors are still open.

If the transmitted string started as ABCDEFG and the D was transmitted
incorrectly, the output should be ABC?EFG. If the parity is wrong in
every character, the output should be ???????
