Clean Re-install Without Re-loading Windows XP Pro (aka Can I delete all National Instruments registry entries after uninstalling all NI products?)

Hello folks,

Something has gone terribly wrong with one of my testers, and I think it calls for a clean installation of all NI products (i.e. PXI/SCXI chassis, NI controller, FPGA, LabVIEW, traditional DAQ, DAQmx etc.).  However, I don't want to re-load windows.

Can I safely delete all of the National Instruments registry entries after I uninstall all NI products?  Will this provide a "clean slate" for me to re-install the NI products?

Best Regards,

Chris

Chris,

I suggest that you try MSI Blast to remove the previous install.  You can find it and the instructions from NI here .

Hi Wayne.C,

Thanks for pointing me to MSI Blast.  Although it did not work in this case, I can certainly imagine it being a useful tool in the future.

After all was said and done I ended up reformatting and spending tens of hours of searching for and reinstalling software.

Best Regards,

Chris
