Can't create DAQmx tasks in MAX

I'm trying to set up several computers to use a cDAQ chassis and four 9213 thermocouple modules. I've been successful on two of them but now I have one that MAX won't allow me to creates DAQmx tasks for the hardware. It detects the hardware but if I right click on Data Neighborhood and chose new the only option is "Traditional NI-DAQ Virtual Channel" (see attached). The DAQmx and MAX version is 15.0.

Thanks

Probably do a repair install of DAQmx.  Launch it from the Add Remove Programs built into windows, you'll need the original media it was installed from.  Other components might need to be repaired too, it is hard to say.

Sorry it took so long to get back but I only LabViewing on a part time basis lately. I did try a repair install and it didn't work. I'm planning on do a complete uninstall/reinstall and see how that goes.

Thanks for the reply.

Wait!  If your LabVIEW 2015/DAQmx 15.0 system is able to "see" and configure two of your cRIOs but not the third, it suggests the problem is the cRIO, not LabVIEW!

Try the following first.

  1. Connect one of the two working cRIOs, open MAX, and verify that MAX "sees" and can do whatever you need to do with the two cRIOs.  If this works, it means that (probably) LabVIEW, MAX, and that cRIO are OK.
  2. Now connect the non-working cRIO.  Can MAX "see" it in the Remote Systems?  If so, open the Software Tab, go to Add/Remove Software, and make sure that the software on the cRIO is the correct version.  If not, it is much faster to update the software on a Remote System than to do a Repair or a Reinstall of LabVIEW on the Host (like a factor of maybe 10).

Bob,

Thanks for the reply.

I think you misunderstand. I'm not hooking up two cDAQ chassis only one. The problem isn't MAX not finding the hardware, it won't let me create any DAQmx tasks for the hardware.

How are you connecting your cRIO to your PC?  I presume through Ethernet, using a second NIC on your PC (or are the cRIOs plugged into the same Network as the PC?).  Sounds like you may have "communications" issues with the cRIO ...

It's connect via USB.

I apologize -- you clearly said "cDAQ", and I thought "cRIO".  Are you saying your cDAQ chassis can configure two of your thermocouple modules, but not the other two?  Is this true when you put the "bad" module in a slot that you could use for the "good" module?  If so, sounds like you have a bad module, otherwise I have no clue why you have this problem (sorry).

The modules are good they work on two other computers. When I get a chance I'll do a complete uninstall/reinstall and cross my fingers.
