Can Labview 2013 read inputs from Logitech G27 steering wheel ?

Can Labview 2013 read inputs from Logitech G27 steering wheel directly just by USB connection? I would like to make a survey before i purchase it. Thanks

A survey?

Hadn't you post documentation on this item?

Oh no I think you have got me wrong.. I am actually finding a Logitech steering wheel that will be used for my final year project. And I have found that Logitech G27 seems suitable. So I guess I should write that I want to double confirm whether can this product be done. Sorry for the confusion..

Without any technical documentation, how would we know?

The only thing that comes with LabVIEW is an interface to a joystick. I don't know how well that will work with a steering wheel. There have been a few posts on this? Have you done a search?

Yeah I have seen some that mention it interfaces with ps3 controller and I saw some that suggest using the joystick vi to read from steering wheel as well. But I can't really find one who uses G27 to connect directly to laptop and labview. Supposingly it should work for most gaming steering wheel I hope hmm . Thanks for the reply

Hello , I try to do the same thing as you. I have a G27 and I want to communicate with labview . Did you succeed?

I'm guessing (the information on Logitech's site is sketchy) that this will show up in Windows as a DirectInput device, like keyboards, mice, and Joysticks.  The Good News is that LabVIEW does have the ability to identify and read USB-connected Joysticks that use DirectInput.  The Bad News is that LabVIEW only seems to pick up the first 8 or so connected devices (and it is very easy to have twice as many on your PC, as running the DirectX diagnostics will reveal).  In particular, I've been able to see some Joysticks, but rarely a GamePad.

There is an Idea on the LabVIEW Idea Exchange (that I wrote) asking NI to provide access to all of the discovered DirectX devices.  The code and "hooks" to use these devices are already built into LabVIEW -- NI just needs to give us access to all of them, rather than just the first 8 (or however many they currently return).  The link to this request/Idea is http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW-Idea-Exchange/Allow-Query-Input-Devices-to-return-all-available-Devi..., and I urge you to go there and "Kudo" this Idea.  If "Ideas" like this do not receive support in the form of Kudos, they are "declined" ...

Bob Schor

P.S. -- it is OK to ask your colleagues who use the Forum to also Kudo this idea, if you agree with it, of course ...

Why do you have 16 joysticks? I'm super curious now
