Can I use 2 ethernet port (IP Address) with Labview RT ?

I want use 2 IP address with PXI RT Controller.
1 IP Address is 10.XXX.XXX.XXX, another is 162.XXX.XXX.XXX.

Has any one experience with this case ?

Hi,

Currently, only one IP address is supported by RT.  The RT controller does not have a way to identify two separate IP address, subnets or interface cards.  If you insert more than one network card in a PXI chassis, the RT controller will choose the faster one.

I guess a question I have is, what are you looking to implement?  Are you trying to have a redundant setup?  Or do you simply want to send data from your RT controller to 2 different systems?

Hope I can help. Have a great day!

A.S. is right, one ethernet card / one IP address.  There are a couple ethernet devices out there that support multiple IP addresses, but those devices generally just accept ethernet traffic sent to those IP addresses (data sent from the device is reported sent from the primary address), but LabVIEW RT 7.1 doesn't support any of those (at least not that feature).  A.S. is also right in the sense that LabVIEW RT 7.1 will only use one ethernet device if multiple ethernet devices are inserted in the chassis - I believe LabVIEW RT only supports Intel 82559 (PXI-8212/8211 10/100Mb), Intel 82540EM (PXI-8232/8231, 10/100/1000Mb), and the PXI-8196 has a built-in gigabit ethernet device (Broadcom part 5751 10/100/1000Mb).  Look at the load order in the ethernet.ini file, the one listed first (or first detected as it traverses the list in order) is the one it will use, not necessarily the "fastest".

Good luck.

Hello,

I have a PXI system with two ethernet adapters, this means two mac adresses and two IP adresses.

I also have it in a desktop PC.

Both PXI and PC running PharLap ETS operative system (Labview RT 8.0).

check this http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/370622D-01/lvrthowto/configuringdualethernetpxi/

Cheers

Yes, you are correct - LabVIEW 8.0 introduced the ability to have multiple ethernet cards at once.  However, only one card can use a DHCP address; the others must have a static IP address.  However, one ethernet card cannot have 2 IP addresses, which is what was originally asked.
