Can I get rid of the Robotics watermark on the diagram?

Solved!
Go to solution

I was having frequent crashes of LV 2015, so I uninstalled and reinstalled. (The crashes are still happening...) As I did the first time, I chose to install the Robotics toolkit. Previously, this added the word "Robotics" to the splash screen when LV is started (as well as pallettes, etc.) But this time, there is also a big gear "robotics" watermark on every block diagram. I've never seen this before. It is hugely annoying and distracting. I've done a search and can't even find mention of it. Does anyone know if there is a way to get rid of it?

TIA,

You are opening up in the wrong context.

There is a menu option to switch between "Robotics" and good old LabVIEW.  I forget exactly where but its fairly obvious when you look for it

Hey Dave,

You are likely running in the LabVIEW Robotics environment. You can easily switch between that and the standard LabVIEW environment by selecting from your block diagram Tools >> Choose Environment and selecting LabVIEW from the listed options.

Thanks! I was hoping it was something as simple as that.

If only it were that simple...

I made the suggested change. And as can be seen in the screen shot attached, LV does now start with "LabVIEW" shown as the default environment. But with ROBOTICS actually the environment running! This is after multiple shutdowns and reboots. LabVIEW is the default, but it still comes up in Robotics! Arg! I can manually change it to LabVIEW, and that works, until I restart LabVIEW. Any more ideas?

I did that when "LabVIEW" was selected. That is why there is a check mark next to "LabVIEW" and not next to "Robotics". And yet when it starts up, it is in the "Robotics" environment. If I were to click that checkbox when it is in the state shown in my screen shot, it would make the Robotics environment the default. Definitely not what I'm looking for!

I've even tried making Robotics default, then resetting it back to LabVIEW. No matter which one is default, it comes up in Robotics.I've even tried making myRIO the default. It still comes up in Robotics. I set it to LabVIEW as default, it comes up in Robotics, and then the selection says "Current default setting: 'LabVIEW'."

It really seems like there is something corrupted. Is this environment setting in the ini file? Have you tried temporarily renaming labview.ini? I think NI need to look into this.

I had already searched the LabVIEW.ini file and couldn't find any keys that looked relevant. Based on your suggestion, I now tried renaming the LabVIEW.ini file so it would start fresh. No difference. LabVIEW is still marked as default, but it starts up in Robotics.

Totally bizarre! After trying Altenbach's idea, on the first time LV was loaded, the issue persisted, even using a fresh .ini. Then I put my .ini back. But I did so BEFORE closing LV. Accidentally. I closed LV, which then rewrites at least some of the .ini. The next time I opened LV, it was fine! One of my .ini customizations was gone. (The front panel grid was now showing.) But MOST of my .ini customizations were still in place. But the Environment is now working correctly. I think something just got out of sync during a LV re-install. Removing LabVIEW.ini reset the offending issue. I don't fully understand it, but we're good to go for now. Thanks for the help, Christian!
