CRIO 9045

Hello,

I have installed the labview for the first time on a host PC to communicate with a cRIO 9045 via a usb cables. I have tested both version 2021 SP1 with 64bit and 2019 (32 bit) on my laptop (64bits) but it does not work for both of them. I would like to know about the compability of cRIO9045 with these versions that I have installed. I add that during installation of labview from the website of NI, I have added the necessaries such as NI CRIO drivers and toolkits and modules for the same version.

Thank you in advance

Does connecting the USB enumerate a new virtual Ethernet interface on your machine? If it does not, then you do not have the drivers installed.

Does your computer have an alternate IP address on the link-local subnet? If not, then you will not be able to ping or communicate with the cRIO over Ethernet.

The most common issue for me is that discovering the cRIO over Ethernet or USB (which is still just a virtual Ethernet port) is difficult or impossible through corporate firewalls. Try using an off-network computer with firewalls turned off if possible.

If you still cannot locate the cRIO, try contacting NI tech support. They are typically fairly good at running through all of the normal troubleshooting steps for this.

Check supported LabVIEW versions and compatibility on these pages:
Software Support for CompactRIO, CompactDAQ, Single-Board RIO, R Series, and EtherCAT
NI-DAQmx and LabVIEW Compatibility

You would be best off using LabVIEW 32-bit for everything unless you have a specific reason to do otherwise. The 32-bit versions of everthing generally seem to be more stable and more compatible.

Sidenote: I have NEVER been able to unpack a cRIO and get it configured and running without some sort of issue. Usually network configuration. The latest issues are related to incompatibilities with LabVIEW 2021 SP1 and various firmwares and other nuances. This new package-based installation scheme is really swell. What a headache...

Thank you rwunderl for your response,

It is solved, I have removed the NI drivers and reinstalled them for the version 2020 and it works :).

Thank you again
