Bound indicators on a UI

I'd like my UI thread to run as little as possible (only through user events), but I assume that binding shared variables to indicators on a UI means the UI thread is running every time a shared variable changes (in order to update the indicator), n'est pa?

According to the Profiler, the answer to my question is "no, the UI thread doesn't have to run as part of updating the bound indicators. It can remain in a wait I/O state". This is a good thing.
