Beep

can anyone tell me how I can generate a simple 'beep' from the system
loudspeeker. The sound.vi seems to need a soundcard (which I don't have in
that computer).

Thank for any help

It should use the internal loudspeaker if no soundcard is present- I've used
it that way so it does work on at least one machine.

I assume you're sure the loudspeaker works? You get the bleeps on powerup?

You're sure there's no soundcard? Some motherboards have the sound hardware
built into the motherboard and you'd have to disable this in the bios. You
may have such a machine even if you didn't specify you wanted audio.

Here is a solution to create a beep directly on the PC speaker. Actually it works verry well under Win98, but I think it works on all IBM-PCs without any problem.
