Hi,
I am using several bluetooth virtual serial communications ports to transfer data from a pic microprocessor. I am using the generic VISA serial pallete to open, read, and close the port properly. However, once and a while I get an Unknown System Error 0xBFFF0000 when I try to open the port. If I attempt to open the port a few times it will eventually work. I was wondering if anyone has any ideas as to what the cause could be. I have no idea since the error is very non descriptive. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Hi cmeehan,
This error could mean a number of things. What's the hardware you are using for this application?

The hardware is all custom made by me. It is a pic microprocessor which reads analog voltages, digitizes it and streams the data through a bluetooth transmitter to a bluetooth receiver on my computer. In windows, it is a simulated rs232 com port. Is there anyways to narrow down where the error occurs, other than just the VISA open com port?

Hi cmeehan,
You can run a Spy Capture as you run your application and see what values are being passed on the bus. The details on how to perform a good NI Spy Capture can be seen here.
