Application Builder has wrong disc instruction in LabVIEW 2009

Just to note that this is a problem.  I was able to figure it out, but the instructions are setup for the cd method (before DVD) where there was a separate disc for each tool.

Now that everything is on DVDs, the instruction needs to be updated for building distribution installers for the required discs.

I was being asked for the Vision Development Disc which is actually a part of "DVD 3 of 5".

I was also being asked for Device Drivers Disc 1 which is actually "DVD 4 of 5" (NI Device Drivers).

Hi Chris,

In what form were you shipped the disks? Did you not receive the 2 platform DVDs?

Hello Jeff,

At the company where I work, we receive the Developer Suite DVDs.  I am unclear as to what you are talking about with the "2 platform DVDs".

Thanks for the response.

Jeff,

Please note that I have been successful creating the executable and installer that I needed.

I just wanted to state that the instruction for inserting the LabVIEW discs when creating the installer was incorrect.

Thanks,

Chris

We actually don't usually see the customer disks here in Applications. Are the only labels "DVD 3 of 5", etc. on them? Is there no subtitle that lists "Drivers" or anything?

My Developer Suite consists of 5 DVD's.  ( I don't have Vision, but I do have DSC)

The first 3 say DVD x of 5 (1, 2, or 3) and just has the title NI Developer Suite.

The 4th says DVD 4 of 5, has the title NI Developer Suite, subtitle NI Device Drivers.  (this is the only Device Driver disc, there is no #1 or #2, or ....)

The 5th says DVD 5 of 5, has the title NI Developer Suite, subtitle MSDN Documentation.

When I installed, I only required DVD's #1 and #4.  I haven't done any application building with these.

I think the instructions are correct for the regular distribution where there are only 2 DVDs and the Vision would be something separate. I suspect the decision was made to not customize the instructions for the Developer Suite distribution which would be a small percentage of users and most often, more advanced users. There are also different flavors of the Developer Suite that would make separate instuctions even more difficult to maintain.

Yes, I believe this is basically the issue. You could also install the components from online downloads, etc so there would have to be a service that tracks each individual component and where it came from. It probably could be a little more general, though.
