Anybody actually use VI Logger?

am struggling with VI Logger's quirks and looking for
discussion group or user-maintained FAQ.

specific problems include -

unable to port Vi Logger (native) data across PCs,

data playback is real slow,

version 1.01 deletes the stacked plot feature,

archived data mysteriously disappears from NI Max Vi Logger tree.

etc etc

any leads appreciated!

Here are some thoughts about your problems:

1) unable to port Vi Logger (native) data across PCs

VI Logger was originally not designed for moving data between PCs. It has become apparent that more and more customers want this feature, thus in VI Logger 1.1 we include a tool that will allow you to move the data.
2) data playback is real slow

When you say 'data playback', I assume you mean that you have already completed the data run and you are scrolling through the data to view it. One thing you may not know is that you can hold down the scroll button (the blue right-arrow in the graph toolbar) and move it farther to the right to scroll faster. Also, it could be that there is just a lot of data to read. You might try zooming in on the view so there is not so much data on one screen. What is your scan rate of the Task?

3) version 1.01 deletes the stacked plot feature

We did remove the Stacked Plots feature because it had some limitations, namely that when you used stacked plots, there was no Y-Axis to tell what the value of the plot was. We have replaced this feature by adding the capability to have multiple Y-Axes. This way, you can assign each trace or group of traces which have a similar scale to a different Y-Axis so they can be seen together. This way, you can see what the value of the trace is looking at the axis scale. To use this feature, right-click on the graph, choose Properties, and look for the Y-Axes section. You can add or delete Y-Axes. To assign a trace to a Y-Axis, select the trace in the list and drop-down on the Y-Axis combo box to choose which Y-Axis you want.
4) archived data mysteriously disappears from NI Max Vi Logger tree

Since VI Logger stores information about the logged data in a separate database than the data itself, it's possible for this information to disappear if the MAX data storage becomes corrupted. We have recognized this as a weak point and in VI Logger 1.1 the restore utility would allow you to recover this information as well as move this data to another computer as mentioned in answer #1.

Currently we are in Beta with VI Logger 1.1. We would be happy to send you a beta version for evaluation.
