Anritsu MS2601B RF spectrum analyzer

Hi NG,

I've got a very special question regarding GPIB-remoting the MS2601B
analyzer.

When I select average in the trace menu, the analyzer sweeps multiple times,
according to the average setting.
Now when I want to measure average by remote, I have the following problem.

If I choose average with Triggermode free and restart, I have no information
when my n times sweeps are finished, the MS2601 driver (by the way: very
poor programming style, I thought that downloadable drivers from the NI-Site
must comply with some styling and programming agreements like submenus for
Configure/Data/Action/Utilities ) doesn't provide me with a Sweep and wait
for execution VI.

If I choose Single sweep with wait for execution, it doesn't sweep th
e
multiple times for doing average.

Since the driver is not very nice, I've consulted the manual for the
analyzer, but anyway: I didn't find something suitable.

What's the correct way to trigger an average measurement and wait for its
completion? Who can help me?

I'm not familier with this instrument but most of them support the *OPC? (operation complete) query command. If you append this command to the SWP command for example: SWP;*OPC? then the instrument should respond when complete.

Consult your instrumend programming manual to see if it supports this.

I'm unfamiliar with the instrument, but look in the manual and see if you
can make it pull the SRQ (Service Request) line when it's finished; if so,
you can wait for the SRQ in Labview.
