Activex Container

hi ,

i m using "AverTV studio 303P" frame grabber card but since this does not provide ActiveX control i had to use another software i.e "Fath".
could you tell more about the "wintv" product model as well as the other products and models that have ActiveX control functionality , so that i can choose whatever is available locally.

actually, after trying out wintv, I found it not very good. Right now I'm using Pinnacle's dazzle product (USB version) and NI Vision's USB software. However, with NI's Vison toolkit you probably need to invest another $2500 + $300/PC, which many may think it is too expense, but you do can manipulate the images though. There are several activeX contains can can work the frame grabbers, one I tried out is VideoCap. You can download a copy and give it a try. There is another labview addon package (by someone other than NI), IVision. Give it a try to see if it suit for you.

hi joe ,

just wanted to know ,
instead of using other softwares with ActiveX functionality ,is it a good idea to make a VI that will access the hardware directly, like IVision coz there are certain functionalities which iwould like to have but unfortunately in Ivision its not there or may be i m not able to extract that.

how can one go about doing the above?

Honestly I don't know. I am not familiar with video capture cards. If you just want some hardware information, then write a DLL in C/C++ to get the information.

Hi Tanisha_LV,

You said that you have checked out the IVision and the resolution is not good and has delay. I just want to say the resolution is limited by your frame grabber or camera, make sure you have the right hardware you expected. And if the image quality is not good, make sure you use the right IVision vi for your camera (maybe your camera or frame grabber output interlaced video?, then you should use the new vi in IVision 2.0 that handles interlaced video)And what frame rate are you expecting when you say delay? Sometime it's related to the computer, I would recommend at least 2.6GHZ with 516M RAM for vidoe application.

Thank you.
