The wizard I was talking about is actually an express vi.  It is called "Instrument IO Assistant" and it is located in the Express palette under Input as "Instr Assist".  It will walk you through sending a command to your device and parsing the returned string.  I don't think I would try to build an complete driver for the instrument with it, but it is great when you just need to use a couple of commands.

Please keep in mind that anything involving VISA will not run unless you have NI-VISA installed, even if LabVIEW is already installed on your system. Here is a link that will tell you more about the NI-VISA driver.
