2009 SP1 Debug Deployment Only

I've install LabVIEW 2009 SP1 and it works fine but it indicates "Licensed for Debug Deployment only" on the opening screen. We use the Volume License Manager and it correctly checks out a Development License which is correct for me.

Is this something I should be concerned about? It doesn't seem to be constrained in any way, i.e. I can build executables.

You should make sure that you have the correct version activated.  This can be done in the NI License Manager, under the Development Systems.  Check to see which box is marked as green.  Let me know what it says there and I can help you from there.

In NI License Manager under Local Licenses -> LabVIEW 2009 SP1 The "Professional Development System" Box is in evaluation status. If I try to activate it, it rejects my serial number.

It does run and shows my correct serial number, and correctly checks out a Developer Suite License.

If you use the VLM, why do you need to activate it? I thought activation was for users who do not use the VLM.

You are absolutely right, if you are using VLM you do not need to activate it, but the fact that it is in "Evaluation Mode" may cause problems.  You will need to deactivate it so that the only license it is seeing is the one you check out from the VLM.  If you are still having problems with this, let me know.

Well I can't deactivate something that isn't activated, so I deleted all the license files from the "C:\Program Files\National Instruments\Shared\License Manager\Licenses" directory. Now in the License Manager under Local Licenses it shows "No Licenses Installed" which makes sense.

I then ran 2009 SPI and the same thing happens. It runs fine and checks out a "Developer Suite with Automated Test" for me like it is supposed to. In the "Getting Started" screen it just says "Licensed for Debug Deployment only".

I ran LabVIEW8.6, it checks out a license correctly and displays "Licensed for Professional Version" in the Startup Screen.

I ran LabVIEW7.1, it checks out a license correctly but doesn't display any license version.

This looks to me like a bug in 2009 SPI, maybe just a minor one on the Startup Screen.

Can you post screenshots of the following:

- NI VLM on the server with the DevSuite license highlighted.

- NI License Manager on the client computer with thelicense checked out.

Thanks!

Thanks for the screenshots. Can you post two more, please.

  1. Screenshot of NILM after you have started LabVIEW 2009 (with a license checked out)
  2. A screenshot of the startup screen that shows the inconsistency

Thanks for your help. With this information I can show our developers to see if it is a bug, or not.

Thanks!

That is strange, looks like you should have DevSuite checked out.

If you highlight the Debug Deployment under LabVIEW 2009, does it show your computer has a license checked out?
