unable to find driver for USB-485

I have installed from the CD. I have installed the driver from the Ni website. I have uninstalled & reinstalled. My PC can not find the driver and will only install the unit as an Unknown Device.

Hi there,

If you go into device manager and select the device (unknown) and select properties of that device.  What driver (*.sys file) is being used and where is it installed?
Also, are you connecting the device through a USB Hub?

Some third-party USB 2.0 drivers do not properly support composite devices. If you encounter enumeration problems (not all COM ports appear in the Device Manager or Diagnostics), and you are using third-party (non-Microsoft) USB 2.0 host controller drivers and/or USB 2.0 hub drivers, you may need to update your USB 2.0 drivers. Contact your USB 2.0 equipment vendor for the latest drivers. If a newer version is not available, or you still encounter problems, you may need to install the Microsoft USB 2.0 driver using the Windows Update.

It's an unknown device so "No driver files are required or have been loaded for this device."
I was using a USB hub, but even when plugging directly into the PC I get the same problem.
All USB controller drivers are Microsoft or Intel and are most uptodate versions.
I also tried on my desktop PC (old so uses USB 1.0) and got same problem.

Hi,

Can you confirm that you are running Windows XP SP2, and that you have current updates installed. If so I would suggest removing the device from the device manager, restarting the machine with it unplugged, booting back up and them plugging the USB back in and allowing windows to find the devices drivers again. If this doesn't work please let me know and I will look into it further for you.

Thanks,
Applications Engineer
