to control Agilent 4156C via LAN interface but get a error display“Cloud not open a VISA section to TCP/IP...,VISA error code OXBFFF0079"

att as the tittle,my PC OS is windows7, labview 2009 and visa 5.02 are installed on, there also is a exchange board, when connected with Agilent 4156C, there is a error display, and it means ”The protocol specified is invalid“ according to the reference. what's the problem? thank you!

What protocol did you actually specify? Did you select the resource name from the pull-down menu? Did you create the resource in MAX?

when I create the VISA TCP/IP resource and manually specify the address information of the LAN instrument in MAX, the error display acts.

You specified Raw or VXI-11? Try swapping the resource type. Also, make sure you can ping the instrument.

Thanks,Dennis Knutson. I specified the VXI-11/lan. when I pinged the instrument IP(192.168.0.9), there were  no lost packages and the time showed 1ms. I only installed labview2009 and visa 5.02 on my PC, can I create the TCP/IP resource in MAX? should I intsall other drivers of Agilent instrument?
