saving 10 sets of oscilloscope waveforms within 1 minute

Hi,

Saving oscilloscope waveforms is done manually. Is there a solution that saving oscilloscope waveforms continuously as well as automatically?

Yes this is definitely possible. What kind of scope do you have? Do you want to save screen captures or raw data? Can you give a little more detail about what you want to do?

My oscilloscope is 12GHz bandwidth, real time oscilloscope from agilent, model DSO81204B. The scope can only save the wavefroms maullay when i click on the save buttom.

My project  is radar tracking of the object which is moving back and forth. I need the oscilloscope to save a few sets of waveform data (not screen) reflected from the object within 1 minute automatically (eg, the waveform is automatically save every 0.1s). From these few sets of saved waveform, we would like  to extract the the manner of object movement , the frequecy of the object movement, etc.

with a 12G scope you can have so much data in .1 second that it will get difficult to save in the same time via GPIB or any other bus.
but you can try.
Use the driver on the website and try if it is possible to read out the scope without stopping it.
Also if you don't use all of the memory of the scope for one trace it could be possible to save the data in the scope and retrieve it later.

Hi,

Since i am new to GPIB, may i know which driver should i use and how? I wont use up all the memory of the scope. Time frame for each waveform is only 50ns.

Although I don't like IVI drivers (difficult to debug) it is better than starting from nothing.
Be sure to download all the IVI compliance stuff

look in http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/3377 to see what and how
