ni488.2 fails to install

I have reached a deadlock situation.  The new ni488224.exe software does not complete the install proceedure.
It indicates that NO products have been installed. I suspect the previous version did not uninstall correctly.
Now, I have no old version, and no way to install the new version.

I suspect some registry entry is indicating that this stuff is already installed.

This is a followup to my original post.

It appears that the 2.4 version no longer supports the GPIB-USB-A.

When I try to load an older version, I get:

Missing or Damaged GPIB-32.DLL

It suggests uninstalling and re-installing and I have tried that and all manner of pertebations.

What I need is a way to COMPLETELY clean this machine of any trace of NI software, and then do

a re-install.  Is there a utility that can accomplish this ?

Thanks
