maximum number of devices

Hi,

I know that the maximum number of devices that can be connected to 1 gpib board is 15, but what
if I have two power supply mainframe devices (primary addresses 10 and 11) each with 8 sub address devices.
Can I controll all 16 of these power supllies from 1 gpib card?

Thanks

Curt

Yes, you can control all of these with one GPIB card. The distinction that needs to be made is between physical devices and logical devices. The number of physical devices is limited because of signal integrity and drive current. There is no corresponding limitation for logical devices. The limitation of logical devices comes from the GPIB protocol itself. There are only 5 bits available for addressing (both primary and secondary). You can have as many secondary devices as your software/application can handle.
