communication problems with eurotherm 2216e

I am trying to communicate with a eurotherm 2216e controller.  I can communicate with it using the eurotherm itools.  I have downloaded all the vi's for the eurotherm 2400x series but I am unable to communicate using these vi's.  I do not know much about communication protocols so any "simple" help would be appreciated.

Hello Doug,

        Here is another post that might help.  Also, here is an instrument driver troubleshooting guide that you can use.  It is very important to establish basic VISA communication before attempting to use the instrument driver.
