at-gpib/tnt(pnp) addressing error

I have a p133 pc using windows 98 and a pcII/IIa card which works for the attatched set of instructions. I am trying to upgrade the pc system, but cannot get things to work under the new pc. (see attatched word doc)

The type of board in the topic(at-gpib/tnt) is different than the type of board in the body of your question. If it's really a PCII/IIA, then there is no driver for that board that works with Win2K. See a similar posting here.

It seems to me as if the AT-GPIB/TNT(PnP) is not actually at PAD 0. When you perform the ibcmd @!x, if the board were at PAD 0, then TACS should be set in the status. You are recieving an EADR error on the ibwrt because the board is not addressed to talk. I know that the document states that the PAD is at 0, but it appears that this may not be the case. One way to guarantee this is to call ibpad(ud,0).

I tried ibpad, but it yields a value of 0 as expected. I have done a comparison of the working and none working systems and attatched them. Any other ideas wold be gratfully accepted. Thanks for the comments so far.

Hello Tigga,

I have been looking into this issue and I have not had this problem before.

What version of NI 488.2 are you using ( Version 1.4 you will have issues with)

I have always used version 1.7

The At-GPIB-TNT is the only card that is supported for Windows 2000.

I am using V1.7 (downloaded from the NI site) .I installed it and the gpib/tnt card onto a clear system suplied to me by our IT department. I am beginning to wonder if I have a faulty card?

Dear Tigga,

This board may as you mentioned may be broken. Do you have another board, of the exact model that you could insert instead of the board that you are have issues with. Also could you do a IBPAD(gpib0, 0) to set the address of the card. Could you run spy capture while typing these commands. Could you post your findings with your reply (Including the NI Spy Results). If the results that you are getting with the new card are different to the one of the original then the orginal board may be faulty.

If you card turns up being faulty, if you want it to be repaired then you can call up the NI office in the UK (01635 572410) informing customer services that you need to repair a card having your part number and serial num
ber of your card to hand.
