Visa NI versus Agilent

Hi,

I use LV 8.6 to drive some equipements with VISA LXI, IVI and so one and I have a new digitizer to drive which requires Agilent I/O library. When I install Agilent I/O, the installshield find another version of VISA (NI's one) and ask me if I want to replace it by the Agilent's one.

I don't want to break my system (I want to continue to be able to drive my others equipements) but if I don't install the Agilent VISA, I'm not sure to be able to drive the digitizer with the Agilent softwares (MD1).

What is the best solution ? Can I replace the NI version or not? It is possible to switch dll file or change path location?

By advance, thanks,

Benjamin

You should be able to install Agilent as a secondary VISA, leaving NI-VISA as your primary VISA.

If I install it as secondary, is the "Agilent MD1 standalone software" and the "Agilent MD1 LabVIEW instrument driver" will work correctly ?

How can I ask to these apllications to use the secondary VISA driver instead of the primary ?

Is someone already did it and can tell me if it works. I have a lot af LabVIEW instrumentation programs on my computer  and I don't want to break the configuration. For the moment I use 2 différents computers but is not convenient.

I have both NI-VISA and Agilent IO Control 16 installed on my development desktop PC.

The Agilent VISA is secondary, and the NI-VISA is primary.

No problems.
