USB485 pin details needed

Dear Sir/Madam,

We need to interface a OMRON, Japan make Temperature controller (OMRON E5CK-TAA1 (100 -240 v) with RS485 communication module for it (E53 - CK03)) and get the process values from it into the PC.  The controller communicates in Half duplex mode. We have NI USB 485 card. Having referred to the quick start guide for the USB 485, I am not able to understand how the pins of USB485 should be connected to the RS485 communication module’s A and B terminals.

(i)                  Please highlight on how the pin connections will be.

(ii)        Further what should be the flow control used? What should be the transceiver mode to be used if I have to communicate with the instrument using NI RS-485 Transceiver control. vi in the Examples Finder.

regards,

Hi Prakash,

You can find some wiring information in the NI-Serial Help file by searching for "half duplex" in the search tab of the help file.  If you have NI-Serial installed, the help file should already be on your computer, but you can find it here too.  The pinout can be seen here.  Is this what you were looking for?

As for the flow control and transceiver mode, that depends on the instrument itself and how you need to communicate with it.  You can often find this information in the user manual of the instrument.

I hope this is helpful information, but let me know if you have any questions!

Hi Chris,

Thanks for your response. I have tried seen the serial Quick Start Guide. In it there is no pin out of USB 485, when it is connected to the OMRON temperature controller which operates only in two wire (Half duplex mode). I want you to please go through and convey about the pinouts.

thanks in advance

Have you looked at the manual (not the quick start guide) that covers pin connections and half-duplex wiring and communication?
