Since we've replaced NI's converter with the Exsys one (about 3 weeks ago) we haven't had problems (yet?) so we keep our fingers crossed.
We used the NI USB-232 converter for about two years and the system was running 3-4 days each week, the crash was happening a bit more than once every 2 weeks (that's an average of course. As I already said, the the crash was happening, someday turning off and on again everything (PC + RS 232 devices) would resolve the issue and sometimes not, in which case we had to leave everything off until the next day and it worked again.
The computer is an HP DC 7800 Convertible Minitower in which we have a PCIe 1429 and a PCI 6221. LabVIEW 8.5 is installed, the issue happens whether we run the EXE or the source code.
