TCPIP open visa test panel

Hi,
I would like to know why the "open TCP/IP visa test panel " is greyed out when I have found it and try to communicate with the device.
Thanks

Hi Y3G,

A couple of questions that would help me out. What version of NI-VISA do you have installed? Are you able to run the VISA test panel using other ports, such as your Serial Port? If you go to Tools>> NI-VISA>> VISA Interactive Control does it work properly from there?

I am having the same problem. I compiled a LabVIEW 8.5 vi into an executable so that it could be run on another pc. The installer includes LabVIEW runtime 8.5, VISA 4.2, and MAX. The problem is my program fails to run correctly and I cannot open the VISA test panel to see if it is communicating with the spectrum analyzer (Rhode & Schwarz FSL).  The Measurement & Automation Explorer tells me I have a successful VISA test session to the analyzer. Is there something I did not include in the installer?

I tried going through the Tools/NI-VISA/VISA Interactive Control option and that is greyed out also. The program runs perfectly on the computer with LabVIEW installed.

Thanks,

Ricardo

Hi Ricardo,

It looks like what you will need to do is install the VISA run-time engine on the target machine.  If this does not help, I recommend taking a look at some of the following KnowledgeBase Articles.

If none of these help, I could use a little more information about the system.  What specific communication medium are you trying to use?  Are you receiving any error codes when you try to run your application?  Have any NI programs been installed on the target machine previously?

I hope this helps, but if you still have trouble getting it to work, more information will help me get to the bottom of the issue.

I am having the same problem when using the USB-8451.  I tried to run the VISA Interactive Control but it was also greyed out when trying to access it from the tools menu.  I am running version 4.2 of NI-VISA.  Do you have any suggestions?

Thanks.

Hi There,

My first suggestion is to make sure that the VISA interactive control utility is installed on your machine.  You can check this by going to the System>>Software>>NI-VISA in Measurement and Automation Explorer.  If you don't see the interactive control utility under NI-VISA, I would recommend reinstalling VISA.  You can download the latest VISA version here.

If VISA interactive control is installed, I would recommend repairing or reinstalling your VISA installation.  You should be able to open VISA interactive control, regardless of whether your USB 8451 is installed.  I hope this helps.

Thanks. Loading the current version of VISA worked. Apparently the software that we ordered didn't have that on the installation disks.
