Sharing one USB Device between two Computers

I am about to try and share one USB device between two computers, unless otherwise directed. I am looking for wisdome, insight, sage advice, etc. to this end.

Hi Mike,

You can share one USB device between two computers using a 2-port USB switch.  We do not sell these at National Instruments, so if you have any questions about them, contact the manufacturer.  The following link shows some possible devices, although I would recommend looking around a little first: http://www.usbgear.com/USB-Sharing.html

Thanks. This is what I found too. We are looking for an automated means of doing this, which seems unlikely at this juncture.
