Sending binary code to virtual com port

Hi,

I'm trying to send two bytes to an FPGA with the vi in attachment. The bytes are sent to a virtual com port which is actually an USB port, but this is handled through an FTDI chip. When two bytes are sent, the FPGA sends 11111111 or Ÿ in ASCII code back as to check when the bytes are received.
This works perfect with hyperterminal but not with labview. Either I just get a timeout after a while or only one byte is read and twice the same byte is sent. As it works with hyperterminal I guess the mistake is in labview and not in my implemented VHDL code. But where is the mistake... frusty.gif

Thanks a lot in advance
Filip

Hi,

You have to include your subVI's too otherwise I'm not able to open the program.

Cheers.

Have you tried to send the two bytes with a short delay inbetween ?

I just had the problem that an embedded device without FIFO works perfect with hyperterm and not with my vi,because in hyperterm you type the letters. A 3ms delay after sending every single byte solved that task  Smiley Very Happy

Hello,

Thanks for your replies. Found the mistake by now. Apparently only the first eight booleans were converted to a string character, instead of sixteen. But still I wonder if there isn't a more forward way for doing this? Do I really need to do this with that conversion? I'm including the old and new Vi's including subVI's this time :). (sorry for that)

The simplest way is to select Save with Options and then choose Development Distribution. This will create an llb with all subVIs. You can also submit your post and then edit it to add another attachment. Or, attach a zip file.
