I don't know anything about the Agilent CD (are they now including LabVIEW drivers?Smiley Very Happy) but the function is included with the driver you can download from NI at http://www.ni.com/devzone/idnet/default.htm. There are two llbs in the driver. The one called hp34870au.llb has the VI you aer looking for.

The above link is the main page. click on the search link and perform the search with Agilent as the manufacturer and 34970 as the additional search term. You will find a 7.1 and 8.0 driver. Both have the function in one of the llb files in the zip download.

Also, the driver on NI's IDNet is likely a later version of the hp34970a driver including updates you can identify in the driver's readme file.

You should really have started a new thread but in any case, you need to provide more information. How are you interfacing to it? GPIB or serial? If GPIB, does the instrument show up in MAX when you do a scan for instruments? If serial, do you have the right com settings and the correct cable? If serial, have you used Hyperterminal to test the connetion? What, if any, error code do you see when you use the driver? After installing LabVIEW, did you also install VISA?

I just know what's in the manual. Hit the interface button on the front panel to select either GPIB or serial. Once you've selected serial, you can view what the ports settings are for the instrument or change them. Make sure the settings in Hyperterminal match. In my copy of the manual, there is information on pages 154 and 270. There is also information on the correct cable type on page 273. If you don't have the manual, I'm sure it's available for download from www.agilent.com.
