Hello. I'm new to NI, GPIB, and the NI IO Libraries, so I'll apologize in advance for any "Newbie" foul-ups.
I’m attempting to install a driver, for a National Instruments GPIB-USB-HS USB device, under Windows XP. I need the GPIB device to control a programmable DC power supply (Xantrex XHR 40-25).
To install the current version (2.5) of the IO libraries, I have to UNinstall the version I have now (1.7). Attempting to do the usual software uninstall (Settings > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs) "blue-screens" the PC and causes a restart (3 tries so far). After the re-start I get a message "The system has recovered from a serious error". Any suggestions?

Hi Mike,
Thanks for your post. If the system is blue-screening when you open "Add or Remove Programs" it seems like the issue here might not be the driver. Can you tell me exactly when the blue-screen occurs? Does this happen when you select "Add or Remove Programs" or when you select "NI-488.2"?
You can also install the current version without uninstalling the earlier version you have on your computer. Try installing version 2.5 without uninstalling your current version.
Regards,
Todd V.

Todd,
Thanks for the response. The system "blue-screened" somewhere in the middle of the uninstall process, but I haven't been able to determine where exactly since it re-starts immediately. One of our IT people managed to install a new version (V2.6 I think), so I think I'll call this one solved and move on.
Thanks again for you support.
