Hi everyone,
I'm having issues trying to chain two identical Tektronix TDS 210 oscilloscopes into one GPIB port on one computer. If only one scope is turned on, LabView can recognise it, however when both are turned on rather than recognising them as two separate instruments, it seems to get confused and claims there is only one instrument which doesn't work.
I've managed to rule out some basic issues, for instance both GPIB leads and both oscilloscopes are known to be working fine, and a daisy chain of either one of the oscilloscopes and a different GPIB instrument works fine. I've also tried both possible configurations of the chain, i.e; both scopes directly into the computer or one scope into the computer, then a GPIB lead between the scopes.
I've attached some screenshots of the errors which may be useful
Any help is much appreciated!
Thanks

Do you have 2 unique addresses for them? It seems to me that you might not.

Hi Dennis,
Yea thats what i'm thinking, but I don't really understand how I'd go about checking If they have the same address aor how to assign a new address to one of the scopes, would you be able to give me any pointers?
Cheers

It would be explained in the manual. With some instruments, you set dip switches on the back. With others, it's done from one of the instrument's on-screen menu.

Hello cb580,
To configure the instrument's GPIB addresses you will most likely need to consult the user manual to see the sequence of instrument buttons you will need to push. I am sure that Tektronix tech support could walk you through it if the user manual does not have the information.
Cheers,

Yea problem solved, I found a GPIB setup menu in the on-screen options that allowed me to change the address.
Thank you both for your help!
