PCIe-GPIB error

Hello everyone!

I need some help with a problem in a instrument that apparently cannot read anything.

I have checked every cable and connections to my equipment.

The error message seems to be: 0xBFFF0015.

I tried changing the time out limit, but it was not possible once the software returned it to the same fixed time.

Below is the error message that appears on the MAX software.

Hope this message finds you well.

I am not sure how to check this information. The equipment I am using is known as goniometer.

How can I make sure it does support *IDN? What I do know is that it did support in the past, once the equipment used to work.

Greetings from Brazil!

You can check the user manual of the instrument or ask the manufacturer of the instrument if they support.

A goniometer is very generic. What make and model is it? My guess is that it is not a standard Test & Measurement manufacturer and/or a rather old device and they may never have considered to read the IEEE 488.2 standard or it did not exist when your device was manufactured. “*IDN?” Is a IEEE 488.2 defined command and instrument manufacturers are free to implement that … or not. If an instrument does or not can only be found out by reading its user manual. Most such instruments actually tend to have two manuals, the user manual which details how to connect it up and how to push its buttons to do the various measurements and the Programmer Reference Manual which describes the remote programming of the device. This last one is often difficult to get at and some manufacturers wanted to see extra money for it. If it is an older device its manufacturer might not even exist anymore or was bought up by someone else and then it is usually impossible to get manuals for old devices. They want to sell new hardware not support old junk from someone else.
