PCI-GPIB driver for RedHat EL 4?

I need to install the NI-GPIB driver in new computers running RedHat Enterprise 4, which no longer provides the kernel-source package.  The RHEL4 release notes state that "an exploded source tree is not required to build kernel modules against the currently in-use kernel" (in my case 2.6.9-34.EL-smp-i686).  However, when I try to install ni488223L I get an error for NI-KAL:
make: *** [install] Error 1-
ERROR make of nikal kernel module failed, not installing kernel module.  Please make sure gcc and kernel headers/source for the currently running kernel are installed...

I do have gcc installed, I have kernel-devel installed, and it sounds like I shouldn't need  to have the source package installed.
Has anyone tried an install on RHEL 4?
Thanks,
Jean Jordan-Sweet

Hi,

Unfortunately, at this time Red Hat Enterprise WS 4 is not supported for NI-488.2. However, a suggestion to be would to install the latest version of NI-KAL before installing the GPIB driver.

Dear Missy,
Thanks for the suggestion.  I uninstalled the Nikal that came with the gpib driver and reinstalled NIKAL13.  It seems to have worked.  Please tell me now how to go about installing the gpib driver without messing up NIKAL?
Thanks very much,
Jean

Dear Missy,
Please disregard the last post- I was able to install the gpib driver without a hitch.  The install script recognized that a more recent version of NIKAL was already installed and it skipped that step.  The rest of the install went fine and the troubleshooting wizard checked everything out fine.  Thanks VERY MUCH for your help!
