Does NI plan to support the ENET-232 on Windows 7 64 bit (see note from NI-Serial 3.6 below)? My company is planning on migrating to Windows 7 soon. I had expected that Windows 7 64 bit would have been supported by now.
From the Support section of the NI-Serial 3.6 readme file "NISerial36Readme.htm"
Note: ENET interfaces are not supported on Server 2008 or 64-bit versions of Windows 7 and Windows Vista
To download previous versions of NI-Serial drivers, refer to ni.com/updates and search for NI-Serial.

Hello,
now almost two years later, i like to run it with the latest driver 3.9 and i realized that there is NO support for Win7 64bit.
Looking on Ni.com driver's page you will see that there is support for Win7 64bit for 3.8.1 !!??? Is this really working,
or is it just a bug on the page?
Btw. Is there support for Win7 64bit today ?

Hi Alexander,
That sounds quite bad!
Our lates desktop maschines will have always Windows 7 64bit. We have several ENET-232 and 485 devices.
That means i can rid of them now ?!
This is not the way of NI i normally know that a NI-device is not supported in lates OS.
So please tell me when there is support for ENET on Windows 7 64bit.
Regards
Juergen

Hello Jürgen,
you can use them with 64 Bit machines, but you ned a 32 Bit machine to configure the device.
Can I Use the ENET-232 or ENET-485 on Systems with VISA Support Only?
I hope the KB helps.

Alexander and Jürgen
I have stopped using NI serial products as a result of them dropping support for the ENET-232 boxes on Window 7 64 bit. I have legacy software that uses COM ports and I do not have the budget to rewrite them. Setting them up as a COM port gives me a lot of flexibility that I lose when using VISA. I guess those who use the ENET-232 boxes for programs where they do not have access to the source code are out of luck.
