NI PCI-GPIB

Hi,

I have a problem with my PCI-GPIB card on the MAX:

When I scan for instruments , I get the message "There was an erros performing the instrument scan"

The Hardware model is recognized correctly but the not the serial number. It displays 00000000.

The Troubleshooting Utility shows me a passed result for the software test (NI-488.2  Vers.2.52)

but a failed result for the GPIB0 Test (Serial Number).

In the device manager, the card is displayed as ready with the correct driver .

On the Board there is a serial number: B64C0E

The Card-type is PCI-GPIB 183617G-01+

I want to use the card on a XP-System.

Can any give me an advice to solve this problem ? Thanks in advance.

Hi Ante,

I suppose your card is an older model, so it does not support some of the 488.2 commands. Take a look at point 2 in http://ae.natinst.com/operations/ae/public.nsf/web/searchinternal/5F6CB36FF7D8718E86257439004C6FC1?O...

Maybe you schould also check http://www.ni.com/support/gpib/max/ibic.htm.

Hope it'll help you,

Sergei

Thank you sergei

I´ve swithed the card to the other PCI-Slot and it works now.

But I still have the problem, that I can not communicate with my device (multimeter).

The Adress is the same and remote is on but the Instrument scan is always not successful.

maybe I´ll find saomething useful in the GPIB-Help.

Thank you once again

Ante
