NI 488.2 software will not install.

I initially tried to install 488.2 software on my windows xp pro machine and it appeared to install correctly. I restarted the machine and now there is no 488.2 folder under the NI folder on my start menu. In device manager the GPIB does show up correctly with the driver having been installed. On the C drive in the NI direcotry there is also no 488.2 folder. Max will not find the GPIB USB-HS device but my NI application appears to show the devices correclty?

I have tried to reinstall the 488.2 software and it will not install the installer says nothing will be installed click on next to start the add new gpib device, except the button is grayed out.

Hello,

Which version of NI-488.2 are you using? The latest version (2.6) can be downloaded here.

I would suggest running the uninstaller (Control Pane>>Add/Remove Programs>>National Instruments Software>>NI-488.2) then installing the latest version of the driver.

Other questions/suggestions.

Try removing and replacing the GPIB-USB-HS Device.

Do you have NI-VISA installed? If so, which version (you can find version information in the Software Section under "My System" in the Measurement and Automation Explorer). Also, do you have any 3rd party VISA software installed? This could be causing some strange conflicts.

With warm regards,

David D.

I have downloaded the latest version of NI-488.2, I go to remove the program and no national instruments sw packages are listed there (even though I have labview installed and work...... ?)

I've tried removing the GPIB-USB-HS device and re-inserting it and it appears to be working & detected correctly.

I do have NI-VISA installed (downloaded 3 days ago and installed) because I'm using it in my lab view software working as well.

I also have not installed any extra 3rd party software.

..... the GPIB appears to be working with my labview code so I'm ignoring the problem with the MAX software for now and moving on. Thank you for your reply.
