Modbus RTU electronic fan speed controller with RJ45

Hello

I am trying to control a motor via Modbus RTU.

My computer will be master and the motor driver will be slave.

The connection diagram in the instruction manual is as follows:

Since there are only 2 wires to connect for Modbus.

Is it possible to modify a simple network cable (rj45 connector) and tell LabView to send the Modbus data over those 2 wires?

Instruction manual of the motor controller can be found at the bottom.

Maybe i understand modbus completely wrong but please enlighten me 🙂

Thanks in advance.

Okay so i've learnt that because of the OSI 7 layer system i can't just "tell" labview to do this.

I need a converter.

I'm planning on using USB instead of a network cable.

How do i do this? Can i search for the motor driver in NI MAX once it is connected?

And what Modbus package can i use best in this situation?

I've already installed GmodBus over serial line from SAPHIR and
NI Modbus library.

If you have no hardware,

There is this forum:

https://forums.ni.com/t5/Industrial-Communications/labiew-lib-for-modbus-over-RS485-over-USB/td-p/12...

That recommends this: http://www.ni.com/en-gb/support/model.usb-485.html

Do you have the sufficient budget for that?
