Hello Karthik,

MAX is designed for use with National Instruments GPIB, data acquisition, and other NI products. The NI-488.2 Getting Started Wizard will not work with other GPIB products. If you would like to standardize on National Instruments products, see this link for our PCI-GPIB card:

Thanks,

Karthik,

I'm also confused because MAX should not show any third-party GPIB interfaces and thus you should never be able to click on "Scan For Instruments". Do you mean that MAX crashes when you first start it? Or can you actually see a "Scan For Instruments" button? Do you have any National Instruments GPIB cards in the system? If you have NI-488.2 (our driver for our GPIB cards), what version do you have? Have you loaded the Cyber Research drivers as well?

I'm interested in this information if you're still monitoring this thread.

Thanks,
Scott B.

Karthik,

Can you be more specific? Was this the Cyber Research card? Did it show up as GPIB0? Did you have NI-488.2 loaded? What version? Did you have the Cyber Research driver loaded? Did you have any other NI GPIB card in the system? Can you provide a screenshot?

Hi scott,

It was a cyber research GPIB card. In the getting started wizard it shows a error. but when i used Max it scans for the instrument and communicates with it.

Hi Karthik,

If you could answer my other questions above, I would appreciate it. I'd really like to figure out why this works at all!

Hi scott,

I showed as GPIB0 in the MAX, but in the Ni 488.2 it gives interface not configured. i have installed cyberresearch driver for this card and i dont have anyother NI GPIB card installed. i have attached the screen shot.

Karthik,

Very interesting. Unfortunately I cannot help you since the Cyber Research software modifies certain National Instruments files and I do not know how those drivers work. You will need to talk to them to get your problem solved.
