Installation Error

While installing NI-488.2 1.70 from CD onto Win2K system, installation aborts with: "Internal Error 2103. 24".
This same error occurs with both the CD that came with the card(PCI-GPIB), and with the downloaded 2.0 version from the website.

Are you logging in as administrator? If you are not then log in as administrator and then try. Try to install the driver on any other computer and see if you can reproduce this error and let me know.

- I am logged on as administrator.
- The software seemed to install OK on another machine. However, it failed the "interfaces" test with an 'Unknown software error'. It instructed me to re-install and try again: did, same end result. The card does show up OK in the hardware manager and the sfwr interface provided by NI (can't remember what it was called).
- After several trials, the computer no longer booted (blue screen at boot up, even in safe mode). Had to reload the OS, haven't tried the driver sfwr yet again (a little gun shy).
- Is there a connection that both installation types (CD with 1.70, and 2.0 off the hard drive) failed at the same point with the same obtuse error message on the other machine?
- Both test machines are PIII 1GHz with 5
12Mb running Win2K.

Do you have any previous version of NI 488.2 software loaded on your computers? If yes, then uninstall all the NI 488.2 software drivers from your computer and then install 1.70 from the CD. Does the software installation ever complete without any error messages? Are you installing it in the default directory? If not then try doing that.
If it still doesn't work then I would think there something wrong with the registry and you need to clean it up using MSI utility from Microsoft. It is free download from their website. Go to :
