Hi,
I am looking to find out what sequence of steps GPIB explorer goes through to manually add a new device (eg. I know that one step in the process is to ping the device's IP address).
I need the info to help troubleshoot the issues I have with adding a new device to GPIB explorer on RHEL, as outlined here http://forums.ni.com/t5/Instrument-Control-GPIB-Serial/GPIB-explorer-setup-with-secondary-ethernet-p...
Thanks,
Christina

Hi Christina,
I see that you have a service request open regarding the same issue. I talked with the engineers working on that issue with you and tehy told me the following:
GPIB Explorer first pings the IP address that is entered in the same manner as a command line. If the ping is successful, the explorer makes an HTTP request for the configuration file in a web browser. After receiving the file, GPIB Explorer then adds the information to its list of known devices. You can simulate this request by entering the following command into a web browser:
http://<Enet1000_ip>/deviceinfo.xml

Great! Thank you.
This helps a lot.
