GPIB intermittent

Hi

I have two PCs each with a GPIB card. Their addresses are 0 and 1 respectively. I also connected 4 other custom GPIB devices, their addresses 15, 16, 17, 18 respectively, set by a DIP switch. While communications btwn the two PCs seem to be fine, the communication to my four custom devices seem somewhat intermittent. Somewhat lost at what seem to be to probelm. Do I need to set some kind of Master / Slave relationship in a GPIB system?

Have you ensured that you have only one controller in charge at a time?  Have you verified that all your cables are good?  When you say intermittent, is it something that you can reproduce?  Do you have a GPIB+ card that you could spy on the GPIB bus with?  Sorry, no answers yet, but hopefully these questions will help.
