GPIB card not recognized by MAX

I just loaded LabVIEW 7.1 on my compuer (OS is XP). The GPIB card that was given to me is not from NI and has its own 488 driver. Could this have something to do with it? I was told to load LV first then load the driver but this didn't work, MAX still didn't see it and I'm getting a message that no GPIB interface was detected.

MAX is a utility program by National Instruments and is not designed to detect cards from other vendors. Who is the vendor and who told you to install LabVIEW first and then the driver?

Dennis and hpitter,

NI acquired CEC in July 2003. CEC has a long history of serving the T&M industry and is recognized as a quality supplier of IEEE 488 (GPIB) interfaces. CEC, as a subsidiary of NI, continues to sell and support CEC products through their existing channels. CEC GPIB products work with LabVIEW but have their own API and are not recognized in MAX. If you need assistance in getting CEC GPIB products to work with LabVIEW, you can contact CEC at 603-472-1068 or support@cec488.com.

Thanks,
Scott B.
