ESP6000 motion controller Home function not working...

Hi,
I have a ESP6000 (Yes, i know its very old....hehe.  😃  )  and have been trying to activate the home function using Newport's Labview drivers but it just doesn't seem to be working.  What i do, step by step, is:

    - Initialize motors
    - Enable motors
    - Configure velocity
    - And then home just one axis.

I've gotton the "move relative position" to work and other VI's like that but just not this one... and this is the most important one!

I've tried looking through the manual but it seems to be no help.  Am i doing something wrong or missing a step??  If you guys still remember this motion controller or still have and use it, any help would be appreciated!  Thanks.

Hi Nick,

Thank you for using National Instruments forums.  From looking at your current description it seems as if you are doing everything right.  Sadly, as it is, we don't have any of the Newport drive/controllers.  The any Driver for LabVIEW is simply a wrapper for a DLL call to the actual driver.  What I would recommend doing is attempting to contact Newport and see how their driver works or makes the call.

Out of curiosity, is your home position a physical switch or a software location?

Thanks!

And to be sure: Does your drive have a hardware home at all?

The home function for this machine is purely software.  It does not have any sort of hardware homing function (i.e. a button you can press)  I believe in other, more recent models, there is a hardware home, but not in this case.

I have contacted Newport and am currently waiting for their reply (I have a hunch that something is wrong on the software side).  I just wanted to see if there were any users out there that had any experience with this type of problem.  Thanks!
