Does the NI-488.2 1.7 driver work with the PCI-e cards

Solved!
Go to solution

Cannot update driver and must use version 1.7 as that is the driver version that we have tested and ship with the instruments.  the web page http://joule.ni.com/nidu/cds/view/p/id/532/lang/en has not be updated to include PCI-e cards because it is an older driver.

Thanks

You haven't done any upgrades or testing in 8 years? That driver was written before the PCIe bus even existed.

What do you ship? I've never heard of instrument vendors shipping a GPIB board and the driver for it. If your instrument is IEEE-488.2 compliant, it will work with a GPIB board from any vendor.

Yep.  No need to update as we have not experienced any problems (all works great) and there are no benefits in updating, only unnecessary added work that could lead to problems.

We only use NI cards.

So I guess the answer is no version 1.7 does not support PCI-e.

No, and it would also seem that you are limiting your customers to older operating systems though why a customer could not purchase the instrument and use whatever GPIB card/driver/OS he wants is beyond me.
