Delay Initializing GPIB Board

Hi

I am using a NI PCI GPIB board and Nationalinstruments.NI4882.dll and
NationalInstruments.Common.dll in VB .NET to communicate with my GPIB
power meter.

Communication is fine and overall it works well.
However there is a very noticable delay of about 30s when these dlls
are first loaded and then again a delay of 30s when the board is
instantiated using New Board(0).

Is this expected behaviour ?

Hey,

Try running the example program located in C:\Program Files\National Instruments\MeasurementStudioVS2005\DotNET\Examples\Gpib\SimpleReadWrite\vb
Let me know if you experience the same delay when you run this program.  If you change devices do you see the same delay?  If you only have one device, what is it?  Also, can you run a NI-Spy capture when you see this delay and post the results in this forum?  This will help in trying to determine what is causing the delay.
