Connecting A GPIB USB to a HS GCFID Agilent 6890

Hi Y'all!

I am trying to reconfigure a GCFID from Agilent Model 6890.  Previously, it was previously connected and working but they had to get a new PC and hired a new team of people.  The GC is connected to the PC with a GPIC-USB-HS cable and i have Ni max installed but i cannot connect to the instrument when i run chemstation.  I can see the cable connected to the device in NI max but I cant communicate with the instrument.  I think i am missing a step but i have no idea what i am doing since im not an IT expert.  Can anyone point me in the right direction or help me out?

I expect you have a gpib instead of a gpic device, because it is recognized in NI-MAX.

But maybe someone has reset the agilent 6890.

Are you sure it has a GPIB interface with the big screw on connector.

In an old datasheet I found it had LAN and serial interfaces. But an extra added GPIB is not uncommon on Agilent instruments.

What software are you using for control of the chromatograph? Or are you planning to write your own software?
