I am trying to communicate with my LabVIEW application via GPIB to a Keithley 619 electrometer. I always obtain GPIB error code 2. I am sure about the GPIB address. All other instruments on the bus works well. Somebody can help me? The instrument is very old (1985) but was perfectly preserved.

Hi Franco,
you can find the meaning and possible solutions of GPIB error in this document.
If this doesn't help, I will need further details: which version of drivers (488.2 and NI-VISA) have you installed?
Are you sure of the compatibility of the application with your instrument protocol? Which GPIB-board are you using?
Bye!

Hi Licia,
thanks for your reply. I am working on a PXI 8106 with LabVIEW 8.5.
I found the problem on the gpib address.
The Keithley 619 electrometer is a dual channel instrument so I used a gpib address like:"6+1" or "6+2" to talk with channel A or B.
In this way it works very well!
Bye.

I am trying to interface Keithley 619 electrometer using GPIB in Labview. Could you please provide me the driver for the instrument.
Thank you in advance.

Hi,
I've looked at National Instruments Driver Network but there is no driver available for your specific instrument (here you can find the drivers available for Keithley instruments, in case there is a quite similar instrument).
Thus, you will have to program your own driver using VISA functions.
Since Franco's reply is quite old and maybe he is not looking at other replies, you should post a new forum message in case other users have already developed or found a driver.
Bye!

I need to know how to communicate to Keithley 175A with Matlab via GPIB-ni board. I get a number instead of a name when requesting the identification *IDN?. Thanks in advance. Mousa
