Can't find instrument

Hi group:

We have a PCMCIA GPIB card from NI, and We want to transfer the datas from the Agilent 35670A to Labview.
Firstly, everything is ok, when I install the driver(NI488.2), the Measurement&Automation Explore could find the instrument , and write the commands to Agilent 35670A .
But this morning,  suddenly it is not working and the message is "can't find the instrument", when I skan for instruments.
I have checked the cable connection, and try to reinstall the software several times,  still not working.

PS: the length of my cable is 2m, and the address is no conflict . you know,  It was working very well before this morning.

Best regards

Wei

Hi Wei,

I would recommend trying some of the steps outlined in the following KnowledgeBase Article:  "Scan for Instruments" Fails in MAX.  There are some good steps that are worth trying, as well as links to other documentation that may help.

Since it was working before, something must have changed to terminate the communication.  Any information you can give me about your setup and what changes may have been made would be helpful.  Have you tried attaching a different instrument or a different cable, just to verify that the cable is working?  What versions of MAX, 488.2, and VISA are you running?

Hi Mr. Lauren :

Thanks for your replying and I really appreciated it.

That problem is fixed, and the communication is workig very well.  Actually, I supposed the problem is nothing with hardware. you know, The instrument that I use to connect with GPIB is Agilent 35670A analyzer. Probably, there is a conflict about the software setting of that 35670A analyzer. After I try to change some parameters such like saving or recall the datas from the memory of analyzer, the GPIB could find the instrument again. 🙂  sounds ridiculous,  🙂  I still don't understand what's going on with GPIB, but it is working now.

Thanks again

Wei
